Walking Holidays in the Thames Area
Our self - guided walking holidays in the Thames offer many different ways of enjoying tthis magical river. Our walking holidays start from Windsor, Henley, Oxford and Cirencester, with several climaxing in London. They are available with Luxury or Classic accommodation.
From the peace of the countryside to the bustle of London, the Thames wends it’s way through ever changing landscapes from its source in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds to its exit in the North Sea. Every day is different on the river but always beautiful and its strategic position in British history has justifiably earned it the description by John Burns of “Liquid History” Although straddled by a string of iconic towns – London, Windsor,Oxford and more the overriding feel as you cycle, walk or float down the river is one of tranquility and rural charm with an abumdance of wildlife. Somehow you avoid the busy and arrive by the backdoor! Much of the cycling is off road on bridleways and tracks so speed is not of the essence; very little of the route has any traffic at all.and amazingly, this applies equally in London. The Thames can be reached by car or train with ease.
